About Inside
Building better workforce operations from Singapore.
Inside is a Singapore startup automating the path from scheduling to payroll for shift-based teams.
Founded by childhood friends with over a decade in technology, we connect workforce demand, rosters, attendance, employee records, requests, timesheets and pay into one flow for hospitality, service and frontline operations — so the work between publishing a roster and paying the team stops being done by hand.
Why we exist
Work that depends on people deserves better operating software.
Hospitality and frontline operations are highly coordinated, but the systems behind them are often fragmented. Demand sits in one place, rosters in another, changes happen in chat, attendance exceptions wait until payroll, and employees depend on managers for basic information.
Inside exists to connect those decisions — giving operations, HR, finance, managers and employees a shared way to plan the work, run the shift, resolve exceptions and prepare pay.

Inside's approach
Who we are
Ten years building products together. The last four inside shift work.
Inside is built by childhood friends who have been starting companies together since 2012. The longest of those was Outside — eight and a half years of it — which began as a community tasking platform that connected more than 10,000 neighbours, and which pivoted during COVID into a shift-based staffing platform for hospitality, paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to shift workers.
Running that platform is how we found this problem. We were fulfilling shifts, chasing timesheets and reconciling payouts for real operators, and the workforce layer underneath all of it — demand, rosters, attendance, approvals, pay — was the part nobody had joined up. So in April 2024 we started building it properly.
We are engineers and technology enthusiasts, and we treat reliability as the product. A scheduling and payroll system that is occasionally wrong is worse than no system at all, so we build carefully, test against real operating constraints, and keep managers in control of the decisions that carry consequences.
Recognition along the way
Our work has picked up several local and regional accreditations across accelerators, innovation competitions and industry programmes — including graduating the Singapore Tourism Accelerator. We would rather be judged on what the product does for your operation than on a list of trophies.
Our origin
From errands, to staffing, to the system behind every shift.
Outside launched in 2015 as a community tasking platform — neighbours helping neighbours with everyday errands. When COVID reshaped what work looked like, it pivoted into shift-based staffing for hospitality, and we spent the next stretch fulfilling real shifts for real operators.
That was the education. Filling a staffing gap turned out to be the easy part; what operators actually lacked was the layer underneath — demand context, reliable rosters, employee records, attendance, requests, timesheets and payroll workflows that stayed connected to each other. Inside launched in April 2024 to build exactly that.
Ten years running consumer and staffing platforms, including 10,000+ neighbours on Outside.
COVID turned Outside into a hospitality staffing platform, putting us inside operators' daily scheduling reality.
Rosters, attendance, employee information and pay were one workflow being run as four disconnected ones.
Launched April 2024, validated through the Singapore Tourism Accelerator with a hospitality pilot.
Our mission
Better work for every shift worker and manager.
Our mission is to give every shift worker and their manager a smarter, fairer and more connected work experience.
What we are building towards
Scheduling to payroll, automated end to end.
The work between building a roster and paying the team is still largely manual — hours re-entered, exceptions chased, timesheets rebuilt before every pay run. Our goal is to automate that entire path, so one record carries from demand through to pay.
Automation takes the repetitive work. Managers keep the judgement calls — approvals, exceptions and the decisions that carry consequences stay theirs.
The path we are closing
Demand and coverage inform the roster, instead of last week's pattern being copied forward.
Attendance, swaps, leave and corrections are handled as they happen, not at the pay deadline.
Reviewed hours, overtime and allowances flow into the pay run without being rebuilt by hand.
Why hospitality
Hospitality makes workforce complexity visible every day.
Hotels, resorts, F&B groups and service operations bring together multiple departments, outlets, roles, employment types and service periods. Demand changes, shifts move, attendance exceptions need attention, and the employee experience is mostly mobile.
That makes hospitality the right place to build a deeper workforce system — one that understands the connection between expected activity, the roster, what happened during the shift, and what is eventually approved for pay.
- Front office and guest services
- Housekeeping
- F&B outlets and kitchens
- Banquets and events
- Engineering and facilities
- Shared casual and agency labour
Our principles
Ambitious about the system. Grounded in the work.
- Operator-first. Design around how shift-based organisations actually run, not a generic office workflow.
- Frontline-inclusive. Treat the employee experience as part of workforce operations, not an afterthought.
- Connected by design. Link planning, scheduling, attendance, employee records, requests and pay rather than duplicating them.
- Managers stay in control. Automation reduces repetitive work and surfaces decisions; people make the calls.
- Specific over inflated. Explain the workflow and the evidence, without invented claims.
- Progress through implementation. Configure, pilot, learn and expand with the operator.
Proof from the field
A scheduling workflow tested through the Singapore Tourism Accelerator.
During the Singapore Tourism Accelerator pilot with Conrad Singapore Marina Bay, Inside took a scheduling process that ran two to three hours and completed it in 15 minutes — more than 90% of the time saved on that workflow.
Where we are
Singapore-based, with a Southeast Asia perspective.
Inside Technologies Private Limited is headquartered in Singapore. The product is shaped around the realities of multi-outlet hospitality and service operations, mobile frontline teams and the mixed workforce models found across the region.
